Josh & Cate got their first taste of ice skating recently. We met some friends at the rink, Lisa Philiips with kids Mya and Luke. We were telling Josh & Cate how they might fall down and to hang onto the rail the first time around and wouldn't you know it, they didn't really need our advice. They both walked out on that ice and took off. They are such natural athletes and so coordinated. God has sure blessed them with physical ability. They had a great time.
We are Indiana basketball fans so it has been a fun year to follow Big Ten basketball. Josh has gotten into the swing of it and his favorite hat these days is an IU basketball cap that was his Grandpa Harley Clark's. Grandpa Harley has never met Josh here on earth but I think he'll recognize him in heaven someday when he sees this hat!
We joined our friend, Moses Boroff, in celebrating his 18th birthday. Moses and sister Sandria are from King's Garden in the Philippines just like Josh & Cate. God has given them a family near us so we are blessed to be able to see Moses and Sandria along with mom Julie several times a year. It is so fun to see how God takes children from 1/2 way around the world and gives them families located close to each other so they can keep connected. We are so blessed to have Julie, Moses, and Sandria Boroff in our lives. Here are some fun pictures from our recent time together.
Cate's class has been studying famous people in history. They had to do research on someone they admired. Then to end the unit they did a "biography tea" where they had to dress up like the person and answer questions on their life. Cate chose to be Ruby Bridges. Cate did a great job and was the perfect Ruby Bridges. She learned Ruby was very brave to go to an all white school and that Ruby just wanted to play with the children just like everyone else. I think Cate and Ruby both have very strong similarities!
Both kids are still playing basketball in the Upwards program and we will be sad to see that end. Jeff is the referee and it's been rather tough to have to make calls against his son. Josh gets a little annoyed that Dad keeps calling travel on him right before he makes the big 3 point shot! Josh does score about 1/2 our points and gets alot of rebounds! It has been a fun season for him. Cate is a little more timid out there and pretty much hands the ball to the other team. Maybe basketball isn't going to be her sport!
I of course have to add at least one adorable picture of our sweet grandson, Nolan.
Thanks for reading the blog and praying for us. We love your support! We are almost 20 months into our journey as family for Josh & Cate. Sometimes it seems we just started and then sometimes it seems like forever ago that we brought them home. We will continue counting on God and
Choosing joy,
Chris & crew
